Ardery, Holden and Hassenplug New Hidden Valley Winners

For Immediate Release June 11, 2022
Clearfield, PA - Hidden Valley Speedway presented another exciting night of racing action Saturday night on a fast, multi-groove, dust free track with Levi Ardery of West Decatur topping the Semi Late Feature, whie Tiona’s Hayden Holden picked up the Small Block Modified main event and “Wild” Bill Hassenplug of Gallitzin picked up the Craig’s Welding & Fabrication Four Cylinder feature event. The Classic Racing Series Modifieds saw Dylan Brown, Westminster, MD make the tow, as he picked up the feature win for the series first ever visit to the track.
Repeat winners include Fuzzy Fields of Brockway in the Street Stocks and Tim Steis of St. Mary’s in the Amsoil Pure Stocks.
Levi Ardery and Eric Lucas led the Semi Late field to Jon Shipley’s green flag for the start with Ardery taking the lead and the race being slowed immediately by a spin in the second turn. The complete restart saw Ardery again take the lead with Justin Owens in second and George Bailey in third. On the second lap Bailey had moved past Owens for second and was working on the leader when Connor Mann looped the car for the second time, ending his night.
On the restart, Bailey slipped up and fell from second to fifth, as Owens, Lucas and Larry Conklin Jr., all got past him and tried to reel in leader Ardery, who was setting the pace. On lap nine Bailey moved past Conklin for fourth and he was on a mission, trying to get to the front, while Ardery continued to the lead, opening up an advantage over second place Owens. As the racing continued, Ardery was picking up spots, taking third from Lucas on lap 18 and moving into second with two to go, as he sat second he tried to reel in Ardery, and while he closed the gap, he ran out of time, as Ardery picked up his first win of the season. Bailey was second with Owens, Lucas and Jeff Weakland completing the top five. Heat wins went to Ardery and Lucas.
Hayden Holden made his last season by becoming the youngest modified driver in the country to win a feature at 14-years-old, and he showed it wasn’t a fluke, as he picked up another win, while still only 14. Holden took the lead from his front row start by beating Milton Owens off the front row. Holden was hooked up and flying as Owens sat second and was in a struggle with Trent Ogden and then Bob Garvey Jr. While Holden continued to lead, Garvey managed to get by Owens on lap seven. Once in second, Garvey tried to reel in Holden, then the field regrouped on lap 14 after the only caution of the race. On the restart, Holden took off with Garvey a close second, but Holden opened up a slight lead and went on to his second career HVS win. Garvey was second, Ogden got by Owens when Owens went high on lap 10. Jordan Luzier rounded out the top five. Milton Owens won the heat.
Classic Racing Series Modifieds were led to the green by Travis Brown and Bill Brown Jr. It was Bill Brown who took the initial lead, with Travis Brown in second and Roland Brown third. As the Brown show continued at the front of the field, Dylan Brown, who started fifth, was working traffic and looking for the front. On lap 10, D. Brown took second away from T. Brown and was setting his sights on B. Brown. D. Brown took the lead from B. Brown on lap 13 and held on to take the win over B. Brown, Connor Cantwell, Nate Todt and Tyler Miller. The heat was won by Travis Brown.
Mike Bordt and Chad Rougeux brought the Street Stocks to the start with fourth place starter Fuzzy Fields making a daring move in turn two to come out of the turn with the lead on the backstretch. Once he had the lead, hever never looked back, picking up his second straight win of the season. Bordt was second with Rougeux third and Pernell Beimel rounding out the field. The heat was won by Fuzz Fields.
The Amsoil Pure Stocks saw Tim Steis and Ryan Jones on the front row, and as Shipley waved the greer flag, it was Steis who bolted into the lead. As he led, Justin Watt was a close second for much of the race, but during a lap 9 caution, Watt pitted with overheating problems, giving second over to Jones. Jones then tried to get by Steis, but while trying for the lead, he had to protect second and keep Lester Hudson at bay, but on lap 15, as the race went into overtime, Jones bobbled and he lost several positions. When the checkered flag fell, it was Steis getting his second win of the season over Hudson, Tyler Rougeux, Bob Holt and Jones. Heat wins went to Tim Steis and Ryan Jones.
Jake Pennington and John Brown brought the Craig’s Welding & Fabrication Four Cylinders to the green flag, with a caution slowing the race at the start. On the complete restart, Wild Bill Hassenplug took the lead and set the pace with Brown in second and Jim Ogden in third. While they were jockeying for position at the front, the fight throughout the field was exciting, as eighth place starter Mike Phillipson was moving towards the front and he was third by lap four. Hassenplug was still leading as Phillipson and Ogden were battling for position when the caution waved on lap 9. Phillipson jumped on a restart then dropped out on lap 18, as Hassenplug continued to set the pace, and as the checkered flag waved, with was Hassenplug getting his first HVS win of the season over Ogden, Jason Elensky, Allen Robison and Dustin Miller.
Heat wins went to: Jake Pennington, John Brown, Bill Hassenplug and Jim Ogden.
The Craigs Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinder Second Chance race saw Dylan Yastro on the front row with Lam Crawford alongside, as Yastro took the lead. Tyler Gill took the lead on lap two and was setting a torrid pace. The only caution of the race flew on lap five and erased Gills lead. Adam Campbell moved into second on lap six and then took second a lap later, then he was able to make the winning pass on Gill on lap eight. Gill held on to a strong second over Tim Raup, Eric Luzier and Anthony Sones.
